Ms. Gaines wrote what she wanted to write and we are really tired of being not just expected but "advised" to continually juxtapose our lives with white people's, knowing that when we do, our experiences will be overshadowed by white people's tears. We're allowed to talk about things without relating it to or including white people. You affect our lives too much already.
